TeaBagGirl paints faces on Freshpak Rooibos tea bags
Jeanne-Marie Webb from Cape Town joined up with a Facebook group to paint 100 faces. The aim was to do one face a day until you have reached 100. The objective was to paint on different things and the idea was to paint small. When she first considered doing this project she noticed that dried out tea bags offered the perfect canvass on which to paint. This was the beginning of the project she calls #TeaBagGirls.
Her tea bag paintings instantly became a huge hit online and mainly overseas. She tried a few bags but found that Freshpak Rooibos tea bags seemed to hold the beautiful red colour left behind on the bag. Also, the bags tend to dry crisp. Once primed, these tea bags made a perfect little canvas to work on.
She now receives weekly requests to send Rooibos teabags overseas with instructions on how to prep the bags. "I encourage artists to enjoy their cuppa first and save the bag to work on later."
She sends many painted #TeaBagGirls overseas and also uses them as gifts. "After all, this is a 100% proudly SA project. It's been a delightful journey and I never expected them to be such a huge success," said Jeanne-Marie.
