On 27 April 2018, the South African Embassy in Thailand celebrated Freedom Day at the Conrad Hotel in Bangkok, using the event to also promote South African food and wine – which included Rooibos – to guests during the reception. The event was attended by guests from government departments, embassies, trade associations, Thai and Foreign Chambers of Commerce, South African-Thai Chamber of Commerce, trade and business contacts, universities, members from the South African Social Club (Jabulani) and the media.
The SA Embassy also invited Rooibos Ltd’s representative in Sri Lanka, Tharanga Cooray, to set up a display table during the event for food and wine tasting to help promote South African food and wine to guests. Guests were invited to explore trade opportunities.
The event was attended by approximately 500 guests.
